BMH Calicut Celebrates a Decade of Endocrine Surgery with Patients and Families
Calicut. The Endocrine Surgery Department at Baby Memorial Hospital (BMH), Calicut, has completed 4,000 thyroid surgeries using Intraoperative Neuromonitoring over the past decade. To mark this milestone, BMH will host a patient get-together on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
The celebration, to be held at Tiara, Tripenta Hotel, Calicut, from 10 am to 2 pm, will bring together patients treated by the department over the past decade, along with their families and members of the medical team.
The programme will feature patient experience sharing, patient performances, music and entertainment, felicitation and the formal celebration of the 4,000-surgery milestone, followed by lunch.For the department, the milestone represents thousands of individual patient journeys.
Among them is Ajitha Raveendran, a theatre artist and music enthusiast from Thiruvananthapuram, who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer after a scan prompted by a friend’s experience. As a performing artist, preserving her voice was particularly important to her. She underwent surgery at BMH under Dr. P. V. Pradeep, Chief & Senior Consultant, Endocrine Surgery, and has since returned to theatre and music.
Another patient, Minhas, who was working in Saudi Arabia, returned to Kerala following a thyroid cancer diagnosis. After consulting Dr. Pradeep and undergoing surgery at BMH, he has since returned to his normal life.
Their experiences are among the thousands of patient journeys represented by the 4,000 surgeries performed by the department.
