Bengaluru. In a resounding celebration of strength, spirit, and solidarity, DHEE Hospitals, Kanakapura Road, organized the DARE RUN 2025 for World Arthritis Day, bringing together over 5,000 participants from all walks of life to spread awareness about arthritis and the importance of prevention, early diagnosis, and active living.
The event featured 5K and 10K runs along with a 5K fun walk/run, flagged off by Bangalore South MP Shri Tejasvi Surya, in the presence of Dr. Chandrasekar Chikkamuniyappa, CEO & Senior Joint Replacement Surgeon, DHEE Hospitals; Rtn Sridhar B.R., Rotary District Governor 3191; Dr. RMS Sudhakar, President, Rotary Bangalore Orchards and Dr. Subodh Shetty, President, Bangalore Orthopaedic Society..
The run commenced at Forum South Bangalore, Konanakunte Cross Metro Station, and culminated at DHEE Hospitals Multi Specialty Care, Kanakapura Road.
From a 9-year-old child to a 97-year-old arthritis warrior, the DARE RUN witnessed an overwhelming display of enthusiasm, courage, and hope. Among the many inspiring participants was Mr. H.S. Nagaraja from Davangere, who underwent a knee replacement surgery at DHEE Hospitals just two weeks ago. Defying all odds, he travelled from Davangere to Bengaluru to walk 5 kilometers, proudly sharing how he has been able to overcome arthritis pain and reclaim mobility.
Equally inspiring was Mr. B.S. Srikanth Rao, 84, who could barely walk a few meters before his surgery. Today, he confidently walks 10 kilometers every day. His message to the crowd was simple yet powerful — “To stay healthy well into your eighties, you need to get up and walk every day.”
Speaking at the event, Dr. Chandrasekar Chikkamuniyappa, CEO & Senior Joint Replacement Surgeon, DHEE Hospitals, said “Arthritis has the power to limit mobility and profoundly alter lives — not only for those who suffer, but for their families too. Awareness is our first line of defense. On this World Arthritis Day, as we gather for this awareness run, let’s pledge to spread knowledge, encourage early diagnosis, and support those living with arthritis. Remember just one hour of exercise every day can give you 23 hours of great health in a day. Let’s preserve the gift of movement and the quality of life it brings.”
Bangalore South MP Shri Tejasvi Surya lauded the efforts of DHEE Hospitals and partner organizations, stating “It’s inspiring to see a hospital like DHEE take healthcare beyond its walls into the community. DHEE Hospitals, along with NGOs Smitam and Rotary District 3191, have shown how collaboration between healthcare institutions and civic groups can drive social change. The DARE RUN is not just a race — it’s a movement that celebrates courage, compassion, and community health.”
The event exemplified the power of unity — doctors, patients, families, NGOs, corporates, fitness enthusiasts, and senior citizens all came together to DARE to Run, DARE to Create Awareness, and DARE to Make a Difference.
