JAIPUR. This summer, Kalaneri Academy of Fine Arts is opening its doors to something deeply rooted in culture, creativity and meaningful learning through its special initiative — Mid Summer Hues.
At a time when most summer activities are becoming repetitive and screen-driven, Mid Summer Hues attempts to bring back the joy of hands-on experiences, storytelling, artistic exploration and real human interaction. The initiative includes a specially curated Kids Summer Camp as well as a series of rare heritage art workshops for older students and adults.
The highlight of the program is its unique workshop series dedicated to traditional art forms that are slowly disappearing from public awareness despite carrying generations of cultural history within them.
The Kavad Workshop, scheduled from 13th–16th May (4:00 PM – 7:00 PM), explores the centuries-old storytelling tradition of Rajasthan through the beautiful wooden Kavad shrine art. Participants will learn how stories, painting and craftsmanship once came together to create travelling narrative temples that carried folklore and mythology from village to village.
The Tanka / Miniature Workshop, taking place from 18th–25th May (10:00 AM – 12:00 PM), introduces participants to a delicate Himalayan art tradition associated with Tibetan spiritual imagery and detailed miniature painting techniques. Known for its meditative process, intricate brushwork and symbolic depth, this workshop offers a rare opportunity to experience an art form that has survived for over a thousand years.
The Thikri Workshop, scheduled from 28th–30th May (10:00 AM – 1:00 PM), focuses on the reflective mosaic mirror work seen in Rajasthan’s royal architecture and heritage interiors. Participants will create their own designs while understanding the traditional craftsmanship and geometry behind this timeless decorative art practice.
Rather than treating art simply as a hobby, Mid Summer Hues aims to reconnect people with patience, observation, storytelling, expression and cultural memory — things that often get lost in fast-paced modern lifestyles.
Alongside the workshops, the Kids Summer Camp (for ages 5–15 years), running from 13th May to 27th June, has been designed as a creative and personality development based experience that combines art, social interaction, communication activities, experiential learning and real-world awareness in a fun and engaging format.
The summer camp is being conducted in collaboration with Reflect & Rise and is guided by professionals in the field of child education and development with over 20 years of experience.
